Board of Governors of the Asia-Europe Foundation at City Hall

On 24-27 June, our city hosted a meeting of the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) Board of Governors. On Wednesday, 25 June, Maria Klaman, Deputy Mayor of Kraków, welcomed distinguished guests – representatives of the 25 member countries of the foundation. The meeting was attended by Anna Radwan-Röhrenschef, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is organising the meeting, and Ambassador Beata Stoczyńska, currently serving as ASEF Executive Director.

On 8 June, Maria Klaman, Deputy Mayor of Kraków, met a Brazilian delegation led by Ana Paula Matos, Deputy Mayor of Salvador. The purpose of the visit was to promote religious tourism, an area of particular importance to both Kraków and Salvador, as well as to discuss the creative economy, social and educational projects.

Buses and good practices. Kraków helps the city of Sumy

On April 15–16, Kraków hosted a delegation from the Ukrainian city of Sumy, which has recently suffered the devastating consequences of Russian attacks. On Palm Sunday, a missile strike on the center of Sumy resulted in the deaths of over 40 people and left another 100 seriously injured. Mayor of Kraków, Aleksander Miszalski, extended his condolences to the Consul General of Ukraine. Kraków will also be providing Sumy with humanitarian aid.

A Young Benefactor from Great Britain Visits Kraków

Milan Paul Kumar, a 10-year old old British boy from Bolton, accompanied by his parents, has visited out City. Milan is already recognizable in his native country due to his humanitarian activity and social involvement.

The Villa Decius Institute for Culture has welcomed its third SAR program grantee - Ukrainian-born philologist, translator, poet and literary critic, author of more than 300 scholarly publications, Olga Smolnytska, PhD.

Green Connects – Irish Minister Visiting Krakow

On Wednesday, 13th March, Krakow was visited by Mr.Kevin Moran, the Minister whose responsibilities in the Government of the Republic of Ireland involve public works, flood relief and heritage sites. One of the main points of Minister Moran`s stay in our City was a study visit to Zabłocie.

Fallen Canadian pilots honoured in Kraków

In August 1944 Allied forces flew from Italy to drop supplies over Warsaw to help in the Warsaw Uprising. Many were shot down over Poland including, among others, Polish and Canadian pilots. 15 Canadian and 22 Polish pilots are buried at the Rakowicki Cemetery in Kraków.

OWHC Board of Directors meeting was held in Krakow

The Board of Directors of the Organisation of World Heritage Cities (OWHC) convened in Krakow between May 30 and June 2. Andrzej Kulig, Deputy Mayor of Krakow for Social Policy, Culture and City Promotion, welcomed the international visitors on behalf of the city authorities at an event held in the Underground Museum. OWHC meetings were held on May 31 and June 1 at the Krakow City Hall.
